IMRIS, Deerfield Imaging receives Japanese Certification for intraoperative CT solution

IMRIS iCT provides highest quality imaging without moving patient during surgery

Minneapolis, MN, March 7, 2017 – IMRIS, Deerfield Imaging, the global leader in intraoperative imaging, today announced that the company has obtained regulatory Certificates from the Japanese Registration Certification Body for the IMRIS iCT, the first and only ceiling-mounted intraoperative computed tomography scanner, allowing for sales and marketing of this system in Japan.

“This completes our portfolio of intraoperative imaging modalities to better treat patients in Japan and is another step in our overall global iCT commercialization,” said IMRIS President and CEO Andrew Flanagan. “As procedures become more minimally invasive, the need for better visualization with advanced imaging during procedures and low radiation exposure increases. IMRIS iCT places the highest quality CT imaging inside the OR.”

IMRIS iCT provides personalized dose management together with diagnostic quality imaging during surgical procedures to assist surgeons in critical decision support and procedure guidance. The 64-slice scanner effortlessly moves into and out of the operative room (OR) in about 30 seconds during surgery using ceiling-mounted rails to ease workflow.

Minimizing radiation dose is critical. IMRIS iCT features a suite of software applications such as 3D volume rendering to aid in surgical planning and dose reduction which considers each patient’s unique characteristics to maximize image quality and minimize dose. The system software allows healthcare practitioners to visualize dosage prior to scan and adjust settings based on the specific clinical need with detailed dosage reports produced after each scan.

Cook Children’s Medical Center acquires IMRIS Surgical Theatre

Purchase marks second IMRIS Surgical Suite for hospital

Minneapolis, MN, November 3, 2016 – IMRIS, Deerfield Imaging, the global leader in intraoperative imaging, announced Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas has recently purchased an IMRIS Surgical Theatre system. This sale marks the second intraoperative suite purchased by Cook Children’s and will complement their existing two-room IMRIS OR Suite.

Cook Children’s Medical Center’s first IMRIS Surgical Theatre was installed in February 2007 and has been used in nearly 800 cases. The addition of a second suite will increase the capacity of Cook Children’s to diagnose and treat additional pediatric patients suffering from brain tumors, traumatic brain and spine injuries, epilepsy, dystonia and more.

“The addition of the IMRIS 3T surgical suite marks an important stride in Cook Children’s mission to offer comprehensive care to patients and their families,” said Dr. John Honeycutt, Medical Director of Neurosurgery at Cook Children’s Medical Center. “It will also further enhance our experience of over 750 cases performed in our iMRI Neurological suite.”

“This addition of a second IMRIS Surgical Theatre reinforces the value the neurosurgical team at Cook Children’s places in the use of this technology to best treat their patients,” said Deerfield Imaging President and CEO, Andrew Flanagan.

The IMRIS Surgical Theatres at Cook Children’s feature a high-field MR that travels to the patient using ceiling-mounted rails. The fully integrated suite allows the scanner to move between an operating room and a diagnostic room, providing on-demand access to high resolution MR images before, during and after procedures without moving the patient from the OR.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital acquires Intraoperative MRI Technology

Minneapolis, MN, November 2, 2016 – IMRIS, Deerfield Imaging, the global leader in intraoperative imaging, announced that Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, flagship of Miami Children’s Health System, has recently acquired the IMRIS Surgical Theatre, an intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) system to support its renowned Brain Institute. The hospital is the first pediatric facility in Florida to acquire this leading-edge equipment, which brings MRI technology directly into the surgical suite to enhance safety and ensure complete removal of tumors and preservation of healthy tissue.

The IMRIS Surgical Theatre includes a ceiling-mounted rack system that brings the MR directly to the patient in the surgical suite. The high-resolution magnetic resonance images provide surgeons with real-time views of the affected area without moving the patient. The surgeon is able to determine if the targeted area is thoroughly treated or if surgical plans need to be adjusted before completing the procedure. The iMRI is housed in a separate imaging suite that can be used for diagnostic MRI procedures outside of the operating room.

“The Intraoperative MRI supports our neurosurgical team in maximizing resection of abnormal tissue in the safest manner possible,” said Dr. John Ragheb, Director of the Division of Neurosurgery at Nicklaus Children’s. “Studies demonstrate that use of an intraoperative MRI improves safety and the effectiveness of surgery, therefore giving the best possible neurosurgical results in the hands of an experienced surgical team.”

“The IMRIS Surgical Theatre provides the most advanced imaging for Nicklaus Children’s surgeons during operations,” said Andrew Flanagan, Deerfield Imaging’s President and CEO. “Hospitals are recognizing the advantage of enhanced visualization in the operating room and reduced risks by not moving patients during surgery and avoiding re-operation.”

The Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Nicklaus Children’s is the most-experienced neurosurgical service in Florida and one of the most recognized in the nation. The IMRIS Surgical Theatre is housed in a new state-of-the-art surgical suite within the hospital’s Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion, a new six-story critical care tower on the Nicklaus Children’s campus, which recently opened in October 2016.
